As a Kansas who's been hearing about Dennis Rader or his deeds for forty years, this is an excellent story because of the different perspective that the author provides. Kerri Rawson shares her grieving and dealing processes so vividly, not only for those murdered and for their families, but for herself and her own shocked family as they themselves were victimized. Incredibly brave and realistic writing. Reading about what a loving and supporting family she grew up with makes her father's crimes all the more unbelievable and horrifying. So glad I read this. Odd but it left me with a soothing sense of closure, peace, and this refreshing lack of having any more curiosity about the whole story/saga/BTK thing. This book really puts a lot of thoughts to rest. All these years I've wondered about how Dennis Rader's family dealt with the aftermath of his crimes. Now I feel like I know. Thank you Kerri. I feel like I know you too, now. Very good book.Tags : A Serial Killer's Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love, and Overcoming [Kerri Rawson] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. <strong>What is it like to learn that your ordinary, loving father is a serial killer? </strong> In 2005,Kerri Rawson,A Serial Killer's Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love, and Overcoming,Thomas Nelson,1400201756,Children of criminals - Kansas - Wichita,Children of criminals;Kansas;Wichita;Biography.,Christian biography.,Fathers and daughters - United States,Murderers - Family relationships,Rader, Dennis,Rawson, Kerri,Serial murderers - Kansas - Wichita,Serial murderers;Kansas;Wichita;Biography.,BIOGRAPHY & AUTOBIOGRAPHY Personal Memoirs,BIOGRAPHY AND AUTOBIOGRAPHY,BiographyAutobiography,FAMILY & RELATIONSHIPS Abuse General,Family & RelationshipsAbuse - General,GENERAL,General Adult,INFAMOUS CRIMES AND CRIMINALS,Non-Fiction,Personal Memoir,RELIGION Christian Life Inspirational,ReligionChristian Living - Inspirational,TOPICAL Christian Interest,TRUE CRIME Murder Serial Killers,True CrimeMurder - Serial Killers,United States,Kerri Rawson; Dennis Lynn Rader; Dennis Rader family; Brian Rader; Dennis Rader; BTK; BTK killer; BTK serial killer; Serial killers; Ted Bundy; Ted Bundy daughter; famous serial killers; Wichita; Wichita serial killer; Wichita killer; Murders; notorious killers; Family trauma; PTSD; family of serial killer; children of serial killers; BTK killer’s family; BTK killer family; BTK killer daughter; How to get over PTSD; PTSD causes; PTSD facts; PTSD definition; PTSD symptoms; What is PTSD; Anxiety; Betrayal trauma; Betrayal; Night tremors; Nightmares; Stories never told before,Kerri Rawson;Dennis Lynn Rader;Dennis Rader family;Brian Rader;Dennis Rader;BTK;BTK killer;BTK serial killer;Serial killers;Ted Bundy;Ted Bundy daughter;famous serial killers;Wichita;Wichita serial killer;Wichita killer;Murders;notorious killers;Family trauma;PTSD;family of serial killer;children of serial killers;BTK killer's family;BTK killer family;BTK killer daughter; How to get over PTSD;PTSD causes;PTSD facts;PTSD definition;PTSD symptoms; What is PTSD;Anxiety;Betrayal trauma;Betrayal;Night tremors;Nightmares;Stories never told before
A Serial Killer Daughter My Story of Faith Love and Overcoming Kerri Rawson 9781400201754 Books Reviews
Loved this book. Finished in two days. TV doesn't show you this side of a killer. You never really understand what the family has to endure. Beautifully written.
I have followed Kerri’s story and could not imagine the pain she and her family endured. I finished the book in two days and felt so peaceful and emotional after it. Honestly, it made me view some of my own struggles in a different way and helped me find closure to some issues I have dealt with for years. Faith is vital to Kerri but this story is relatable to everyone whether they are a believer in a higher power or not. Thank you, Kerri!
This book was different than expected but very interesting. Her Dad was the BTK and the book shows how the murderers family are victims too. In my opinion there were signs discussed in the book but hindsight is always 20/20. I thought the book was very well written.
I had never really thought of the families of a perpatrator until I came across an interview with Rawson years ago. She made me realize that they are crime victims as well and have an unimaginable task of healing ahead of them. This book is her story, written bluntly and honestly. My heart aches for her entire family and the story of a girl losing her father hit very close to home. I think readers will take a lot away from this book, it isn't a gruesome retelling of crimes it is a story about trauma, faith, and forgiveness.
For all we have been confronted with in the BTK story, this book was a glimpse into the personal devastation to Dennis Rader’s own family. Kerri weaves a story giving the reader the background of her growing up years with her father which allows us to truly understand the shock and trauma she has been through since the day of his arrest. I couldn’t lay this down.
It's okay. Kerri doesn't go into explicit details about her father's murders. It's not explotive or sensational.
It is as advertised. Life with a serial killer for a father and the fallout when finding out what he is.
I wasn't into the hour long section about a family camping trip, nor did I much care for all the god and religious parts.
I was a bit worried that this would be too much of a spiritual journey for someone like myself that isn't religious but it wasn't. Faith obviously played a role in Kerri facing all of the madness she's been put through but the book wasn't overwhelmingly religious. Instead I found it to be an amazingly insightful book. It told a side of BTK that is hard to imagine existed. It was written in a way that is easy to follow and it's hard to put down. Finished it in two days. A must read for anyone interested in the BTK case or just true crime in general.
